On February 21, Oral Health Kansas and our partners were honored to receive the Mosaic Award from the American Advertising Federation – Topeka Chapter for the Confidence in Every Smile campaign.
Presented during the annual American Advertising Awards ceremony, the Mosaic Award recognizes work that reflects the powerful intersection of creativity, culture, and inclusion. It celebrates campaigns that use storytelling and advertising to elevate diverse voices and strengthen communities.
Graphic designer Karen Watson of the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library presented the award, sharing thoughtful remarks about the role creative work plays in shaping conversations and building a more inclusive world.
“Advertising doesn’t just sell products,” Watson said during the ceremony. “It shapes perceptions, creates conversations, and influences how we see one another.”
A Campaign Rooted in Inclusion
The Confidence in Every Smile video series was developed by Oral Health Kansas in partnership with Compass Marketing & Advertising Partners to support individuals with physical, intellectual, and developmental disabilities in maintaining daily oral hygiene routines.
The campaign features accessible, easy-to-follow videos designed to help make brushing and flossing easier and more approachable. By focusing on clear instruction, empathy, and real-life experiences, the series helps individuals build confidence in their oral health routines while also supporting caregivers and families.
Through thoughtful storytelling and intentional design, the campaign reflects the belief that everyone deserves the tools and support needed to achieve good oral health.
Recognizing the Creative Team
The Mosaic Award specifically recognized the creative team that helped bring the campaign to life, including Compass Marketing & Advertising Partners and videographer Jeff Carson.
Their work captured the heart of the project—creating media that supports independence, celebrates diverse experiences, and helps expand access to oral health education.
